Who are we
Mirfa 2 RO Water Desalination Company LLC (the “Company”) is a limited liability company registered and incorporated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 21 February 2023. The Company is owned 60% by TAQA UAE Generation Holding Company LLC, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (“TAQA”) which is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Power Corporation PJSC (“ADPC”), and 40% by Engie M2 Holding Company Limited. ADPC is owned by Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company PJSC (“ADQ”), ultimately owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.
What we do
Mirfa 2 RO Water Desalination Company LLC is responsible for the long-term operation and maintenance of the Mirfa 2 Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant located in Al Dhafra Region, Abu Dhabi. We are committed to operational excellence, asset reliability, and water sustainability.
Operating under a 30-year Water Purchase Agreement, our company ensures safe, cost-efficient, and continuous production of 120 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of potable water, which is equivalent to approximately 545,500 cubic meters per day (m³/d).
To give you a sense of scale, 545,500 m³ of water per day could fill approximately 218 Olympic-sized swimming pools every 24 hours. Imagine that amount spread over a football field—it would reach a depth of nearly 75 meters!
Per hour, the plant produces over 22,700 cubic meters of potable water—enough to meet the average daily water consumption of more than 150,000 people in the GCC region. That’s equivalent to filling one Olympic pool every 6.6 minutes, or about 9 water tankers (12,000 liters each) every minute.
This output supports not just households, but also critical infrastructure, agriculture, and industry in the UAE. It reflects the region’s strategic investments in sustainable desalination technologies to secure water resilience for generations to come.
